hello from Ottawa

Hello everyone. So I guess this is the week where I shoot men with mics. John Baird in a presser, then Gerard Kennedy announces he will run for Liberal leadership... The millitary man is going to Sudan to try to teach some people over there to have a proper police force. Then last but not least is just a weather feature from when I got bored at Kennedy's speach.

Have a good one,
Ashley Fraser

Yo dude, tell me what its like freelancing in Ottawa. Are you making good coin? It seems like most of the stuff you show is editorial/corporate style. I heard that Ottawa is good for that stuff, what'd you think?

I made an alright amount last year, living out in the country... (around $30, 000). This year I moved right into the city right downtown, so I am hoping that I will make way more as the paper will be able to call me for last minute stuff up on the hill and in the downtown core. Not shooting much corporate, all editorial. There is corporate work to be had here, I just havn't broke into that market at all. I love freelancing and hate it all at the same time. Perks, being able to say Im going to be gone this time to this time... Draw back, being out for a friends birthday and getting a call to go shoot a fatal accident. I would love a staff position at the Citizen. Its my home town paper and I love this city and being near family. Thats really important to me right now. Hope that gives you an idea of what Freelancing in Ottawa is like.

Hey ashley, just wondering how you broke into the market in Ottawa? (can't remember)
Was it mainly from your 3 week at the Citizen when you first finished school?

Yea, my three week went really well here. Then I moved to London and when I moved back I was slowly getting work again freelancing here. Now I work almost every day.... :)!
