The Death of the SNU :(

Well, for all of you that remember the beloved SNU ( Swedish News Unit ), I have some terrible news. She has passed away. Murdered by a Dodge Ram pickup truck on Friday evening on my way to an assignment. RIP

Black July is a time that still haunts many Tamil Canadians, it was a deadly time when civil war in Sri Lanka led to the burning and looting of many homes and the killing of hundreds of tamils. V A Sellathurai's home and belongings were destroyed and he and his family were forced to go to a refugee camp. This Monday, he and his compatriots will be gathering to give thanks to the country that took them in and saved their lives. Sellathurai credits his faith with helping him survive. Hello

Hey everyone,
I've been a long time lurker around here but this is my first post. I just finished at Loyalist in the spring and have been in Toronto since May working the summer internship at the Star. Here's some work that was shot over the course of the past couple months, feedback is always super appreciated.

Richard Thomson of Toronto feeds a sparrow near the fountains in Nathan Phillips Square.

A police officer photographs a van that was allegedly involved in a shooting in Scarborough.

Jays short stop John McDonald slides into second base as Yankees second baseman Miguel Cairo turns the double play.

Rasheeda Evans in her home with her two boys 2-year-old Ammar Duncan, left, and Aamil Duncan, right who is 4. Rasheeda is a Mulism convert who used to believe in Christianity.

Rob Benzie wrote a on piece on the fickle nature or race. He is of mixed race with one white parent and one black parent, however he came out looking white and wrote about a very different life experience because of this random genetic outcome.

Thanks for looking,
Aaron Lynett

Cowtown

Well It's been a little while since I put the soundslide up so I thought I would show some of my latest from Calgary. Things are slowing down a bit now that Stampede is over, but it was good while it lasted. Comments, critiques, fire away.

New from O-Town

Everyone is posting some great images, so I thought I would share some of my recent work for your viewing pleasure.

Crazy Italian soccer fans go crazy after winning the cup for the first time in 24 years.
Weather features from the hip.
A Palestine-Lebanon demonstration on Parliament Hill.
Ottawa Bicycle Club Grand Prix through the Gatineau hills (shot while hanging out of a car window going 70 km/hr down hill).
I spent about 10 hours at the Rideau Carleton Raceway working on a photo feature that I actually got two pages out of this weekend.

Straight East Coastin'

Some pictures. We got a guy dealing with a loss at an international track meet, then a a captain reading off the names of those killed in the Canadian Forces helicopter crash last week, then a conductor and symphony, then a portrait of a contortionist and a baseball pitcher.
East Coast What!

Hi all.

Sorry to break the trend on Carlos, but I thought I would dump in a few pics I have shot in the past two weeks. FEEDBACK WELCOME and ENCOURAGED.
Oh, and WAY TO GO CARLOS!
The first pic I had people yell at me because of... which is always kind of fun. This woman passed out from the heat at bluesfest and that is right when she woke up all out of it. Next is a man in the parking garage in a condo building in Ottawa that was flooded. Soccer fans after Italy's win. Nelly Furtado up close and personal. She did a intimate and interactive thing with one of the local radio stations and 89 of there listeners. Then the PM on Canada Day...

Ryan Pfeiffer

Hey Carlos!

I just read on ECNPA today that you got a full time job at the Star! Good job man.

I've also managed to land myself a full time shooting gig at a daily newspaper. I've left the cruise ship buiness to shoot for the Cornwall Standard Freeholder. I start there on Monday. All I have to do is find somewhere to live and then move there.

I'm glad to see I am in a few of those photos posted just below. Brings back some memories!
